How many of us live an adventurous life? Life is about taking risks, sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't. I know that fear definitely stops me often from making decisions. I started thinking this morning, that I love my life but I need to leave my comfort zone more often. 2 years ago I ran a marathon, I am not a runner at all, actually, I hate it. I had never run over 3 miles and I was about to run 26.2 miles. Well, it was a ton of work, and I wanted to quit often but I was able to finish it. That was such a huge accomplishment for me and something I will never forget.
A year and a half ago I started an online coffee roasting business. Again, one of the hardest, scariest decisions I have ever made. There were so many things that I did not know about running a business but I was excited to get out, learn and take chances. It has been tough, and some days I have wondered why I am doing it but then I remember it is because it is a part of my love and passion. The best part of my day is in the morning, enjoying my cup of fresh roasted Bff Coffees. I want to share this with the world.
This got me thinking, even though I put myself out there on occasions, I really need to push myself to not let fear control me and I need to be more open to life's adventures every single day. I had a very successful millionaire once tell me that if it doesn't make you uncomfortable then it is not the right direction. His motto is that if it makes him nervous than he definitely does it. So where do you start? How do you become more adventurous? Should I go jump out of a plane this weekend? Probably not, but I could start today. I am going to be more mindful when making decisions about how I feel about them. Is my first reaction always the safe one? Do I try new things when presented to me? I already know the answer to both those questions, so I am going to try and acknowledge them as it is happening.
This weekend I am going to do one thing different and out of my comfort zone. I haven't decided what that will be so I need your help. What is the most adventurous thing you have done? What is your big adventure for the weekend?
